Essay Topic 1

Responsibility and integrity are two themes touched on in Legacies.

1) Select one character that best represents each quality and describe why that is the case.

2) Select a character who epitomizes one quality, but not the other, and analyze that character based on this criteria.

3) Use specific characters and events to explain how the author uses these two qualities to develop character growth in the novel.

Essay Topic 2

Characters in Legacies make choices that impact others. Is Jack selfish for being involved with Gia and Vicky, given the dangers of his life? Is Gia a good mother for refusing to marry Jack, or a bad mother for letting him into her life in the first place? Would the situation be different if Jack was a police officer or a soldier rather than a mercenary?

Essay Topic 3

Should Jack quit his work as a mercenary of justice? Support your answer with examples from the story.
