Antiques and Hand Me Downs

In the book, we learn about Lame Deer's grandfather, the original Lame Deer, having a gun that is housed in the Museum of the American Indian, in New York City. Have the students go through family heirlooms or antiques that have been passed down from generation to generation. Have the students bring an example of a family heirloom either by bringing the object itself or providing a photo of it. Have the students present their item of history to the class, explain it's origin, and the significance it has to their family.
