Mobility for Clifford
Clifford is forced to use alternate forms of mobility due to his war wounds. Have the students come up with a way that he could make himself mobile. Make sure they keep their ideas limited to the technology and resources that were available to Clifford at the time.
Connie discusses all the different kinds of stimulation that humans crave. Split the class into groups and assign each group one of the facets of stimulation discussed in this book (mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, etc.). Have each group create a collage that represents this kind of stimulation. Allow each group to present their work.
Welcome to Wragby
Connie is disappointed when there is no welcome party for her and Clifford when they move to Wragby. Have the students design a welcome party that would have displayed how the villagers really felt about Connie and Clifford...
