John Lennon (1940-1980) was world-famous as one of the founding members of the band The Beatles. He was a peace activist, writer, musician, and author, known for his rebellious nature and acerbic wit. In today's lesson, students will research the history of the author of In His Own Write, his literary style, and bibliography of works.

Lesson

1) Class Discussion: Introduce the class to the author. John Lennon (1940-1980) was world-famous as one of the founding members of the band The Beatles.

2) Group Activity: Assign the class to small groups of 3-4 each. Groups should take time in class to research the author in various aspects of his career and legacy. Each group should be assigned one of the following to pursue as a topic:

• Childhood, parents, education

• The Beatles

• Literary contributions

• Artistic contributions

• Peace-activist work

• Marriages, children and relationships...
