In Chapters 1-3, Bryson explained some reasons for taking trips to Australia. The objective of this lesson is to explore the psychological reasons involved in taking a trip.

Lesson

Lead the class in a discussion of wanderlust. Begin with a definition and ask the class to offer their feelings on the topic. Do they understand Bryson's feelings? Do they also feel like they want to be somewhere else all the time? How do the students address the personal yearnings of wanderlust? Do they feel like they will never outgrow the need to travel? Do they think Bryson was smart in making his trips? Why or why not?
