1) Class Discussion: Sherwood selected a hotel as the setting for his story involving multiple characters from different origins. What is it about the Hotel Monte Gabriele that makes it ideal for international guests? How is it designed in a way that appeals to different cultures? What does the size of the hotel say about Sherwood's intentions for the play in general? Which hotel features are important to the idea of having so many different countries represented?

2) Writing and Analysis: Have the class take 15 minutes and write down three examples of how the Hotel Monte Gabriele provides an effective backdrop for the theme of the play. Afterward, discuss the lists and reasons behind them...
