Objective

The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze Tomas's feelings upon returning to Argentina after ten years in exile in Part I. Officially, Tomas has been "disappeared" from Argentina since 1976, when he fled the military junta regime following the coup in March of that year. Tomas went to Rome, and then America, where, under an assumed name, he made a different life for himself. Tomas remains haunted by his past and the people he left behind, though, and he is shocked to find himself face-to-face with several intimate contacts he had taken for dead.
