Character Descriptions
This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Judith Butler - This woman is an American post-structuralist philosopher whose contributions have been widely renowned within the humanities.
Woman - This type of person is the main object of discussion in Gender Trouble.
Man - This type of person is the negation of the main object of discussion in Gender Troubles.
The Heterosexual - The desire of this type of person is thought to be the source of gender identity.
The Homosexual - This type of person is seen as a taboo that heterosexual desire sets up in order to repress.
