Character Descriptions

Frank Charles - This person is of mixed race and lives off a father's riches in London until the father dies.

Minnie Dove Charles - This person is the youngest of siblings who leaves Memphis for Kansas. Later, this person marries an abusive spouse and moves to London.

Fannie Dove - This black person moves west to Nicodemus with two other siblings. This person is courted by someone from the community and ends up engaged by the end of the play.

Miss Leah - This person is an older adult who lives most of life in slavery, losing ten children to the trade. This person is adamant about oral tradition and currently lives with neighbors outside of Nicodemus, Kansas.
