Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.


The Narrator (alias Joe) - This character frequents support groups in order to feel better about himself by knowing that there are others worse off. It is also a cure for his insomnia.

Tyler Durden - This character is the total opposite of the narrator, being more of a provider for society than a consumer.

Marla Singer - The Narrator meets this character at a support group and they have a back and forth relationship.
