THE DREAM - In this chapter, Joey awakens from having bizarre dreams about himself in various forms of maturity. The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the elements of Joey's bizarre dream and to discuss what the symbolism of his dreams might be.

Lesson

1.) Class Activity: As a class, create a list of the various forms of himself Joey sees in his dream. Why do you think there are so many "Joeys" in the same dream?

2.) Class Activity: As a class, compare Joey's reaction to the dream with Pimko's reaction to the dream. Is there anything surprising in this comparison?

3.) Class Debate: Do you think Joey should be alarmed by the bizarre dream he has? Divide the class into two groups for a cross classroom debate. After 15 minutes, add another complication: Do you think Joey understands the symbolism of his own...
