Object Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major objects in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.

Objects

Highbury - This is the village where the story takes place. It is a quiet little place located about sixteen miles from London.

Hartfield - This is the Woodhouse Estate, the setting for much of the novel.

Randalls - This is the new home of the Westons. It is a very nice estate located near Hartfield.

Donwell Abbey - This is the home of Mr. Knightley. This estate will be inherited by Emma's nephew unless Mr. Knightley marries.
