1. In Part One, Pages 1-44, what condition is Melo Taylor in, and why does Justyce go find her?

Melo is slumped beside her Benz in the parking lot of a grocery store. She is missing a shoe, and the contents of her purse are scattered all around her. She is drunk. Melo Taylor is Justyce's ex-girlfriend. He still cares for her, even though they broke up. One of her friends called him and told him that Melo is trying to drive drunk, so he went to prevent her from driving.

2. What does Justyce consider doing when Melo does not cooperate with him when he tries to put her in her car?

Justyce tries to get Melo in the back seat of her car, but she will not cooperate with him. So he considers walking away. He could call her parents, put her keys in his pocket, and leave. Oak Ridge is probably the safest neighborhood in Atlanta. Melo would probably be okay for the 25 minutes it would take her father to get there.
