Lesson

1) Class Discussion: Why do you think it is strange that all the important people in town have become so interested in the new visitor? Why are they bothering themselves over a scholar? What do you think the author is saying about the people in town by making them so interested in Tchitchikov?

2) In-Class Writing: Write an essay of a few paragraphs about why it is important that Tchitchikov is not particularly rich or good looking. What do you think might attract people to him?
