Lesson

1. Partner Project: Write down everything you can ascertain about Kristina's life as you read the poems "Flirtin' With the Monster" through "At Least I Had Something."

2. Partner Discussion: Talk about Kristina's situation. Did she have a right to feel fragile emotionally? What support did she have behind her?

3. Class Discussion: Describe Kristina's personality. What choices could Kristina have made to deal with her situation?

4. Homework: Research different reasons people turn to drugs. Prepare a list of at least five reasons and be prepared to share the list with the class.
