Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.

Characters

Fleming Pickering - He is the Chairman of the Board of the Pacific and Far Eastern Shipping Corporation. He sold his ocean liners to the Navy since he sees aviation as the travel of the future.

Joseph L. Howard - He is a Marine who served aboard the battleship Arizona. After leaving the Arizona, he was assigned to the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

Charloes M. Galloway - He is Marine pilot. He, a friend, and two nurses were at a cabin when the attack on Pearl Harbor took place.
