Objective

The objective of this lesson is for students to compare and contrast the characters of Peg Buell and Olive Thompson. Very shortly after arriving in New York City, Vivian meets Olive for the first time, who has come to the train station to meet Vivian because Peg is busy at The Lily Theater. Vivian quickly learns that Peg and Olive have a close relationship, and that Olive is the responsible, serious, and level-headed one of the pair who keeps everything at the theater running smoothly. Peg, though brilliant and creative, is much more free-spirited and fun-loving.
