Create your own story

Divide the class into groups of three or four. Based on the characters Ghanima and Leto (Paul-Muad'Dib's twins) have them create their own movie or book synopsis. Who would their characters be? Create a character profile for each. What setting are they in? Would they change the book genre? How would their story unfold? Be as creative as you want.

Science fiction?

Throughout history, authors have tried to give us their views on what our future holds. Even though this story takes place in a fictional system of planets, do you see glimpses of what Frank Herbert thought our future would hold? Name five "futuristic" things from the book and compare them to our world today.
