• At the start of the story, Charlie, Willy Wonka, Mr. and Mrs. Bucket, Grandpa Joe (who had gone on the adventure with Charlie in the first book), Grandma Josephine, Grandpa George, and Grandma Georgina are all riding in the Great Glass Elevator.
