• The main character, Agnes Magnusdottir, says she has taken the lives of men, and now she will die for it. She remembers the crime and a bright fire engulfing a farm.

• Bjorn Blondal, District Commissioner, posts a public notice declaring that Natan Ketilsson's possessions will be sold at auction in Illugastadir.

• Bjorn Blondal sends a letter to Assistant Reverend Johann Tomasson, Toti, in reference to the burial of Petur Jonsson from Geitaskard.

• Jonsson was murdered with Natan Ketilsson earlier in the month, and there is uncertainty as to whether he deserves to be buried on blessed ground, because he had been convicted of crimes prior.

• Jonsson was not listed as not being Christian in a letter from His Majesty the King, so he will...
