Objective

Objective: In Bloody Chamber there is a huge generational gap between the Marquis and his young wife. The aim of this lesson is to examine generation gaps.

1) With the class, discuss the student's generation. What important events have happened during their lifetime? What kind of music is there? What kind of technology? Divide the class into pairs and ask them to research their Grandparents generations and ask the same questions as they asked for their own generation. On their return, end the lesson with a discussion on the differences. Can the students understand their grandparent's generations? Do they think the Grandparents can understand the student's generation? How different were the experiences both generations went through. Are there any similarities?

2) With the student look at the young wife's mother and discuss what her generation went through in the early 20th century. How does Carter reflect her generation's ideas...
