Object Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major objects in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.

Objects

The Cottage - This is the lake house where Joe Quinn and Eve Duncan live with Jane MacGuire.

Herculaneum - This is the ancient city destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Vesuvius.

The Skulls - These are what Eve works on reconstructions of over the course of the book, including: Guilia/Cira, Ruth, and Lucy.

The Vesuvianite Ring - This is sent to Jane under the pretense that it was sent by a friend of the family, and is made of volcanic stone that has been cut and polished to resemble the gemstone peridot.
