Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Characters

Silas Ali - This character works as a liaison between the Ministry of Justice and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and was part of the underground movement before the new government in South Africa, working as someone who rooted out infiltrators and collaborators.

Lydia Ali - This character works as a nurse at one of the hospitals in Johannesburg and is also a rape victim who never told her son the truth of his parentage.
