• He imagines the conversations he will have with the other men when he lands his plane.

• He thinks about Yorky getting sick when he sees that Williamson’s leg has been blown off.

• Williamson reveals that his right leg has been badly harmed and nearly completely removed by a cannon shell.

• Williamson tries to stay calm by thinking about the bottle of whiskey...
