Lesson 1

Objective

Beautiful Creatures is a young adult fantasy novel by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It is the first book of the Caster Chronicles, a series consisting of four books and a novella revolving around the lives of Lena Duchannes and her “Caster” family and Ethan Wate, a teenager in Gatlin, South Carolina. In this lesson, students will research the authors and the Caster Chronicles, and will identify, analyze, and discuss the narrative point of view and setting established in the first chapter, titled “The Middle of Nowhere.”
