Lesson 1 (from Introduction, How to Use this Book, Chapter 1- The Stages of the Journey)

Objective

This book outlines the twelve archetypes of personality that humans experience on their journey of life. This nonfiction book seeks to explain personality characteristics to help the reader learn to identify their own weak and strong points. Today's lesson will introduce the book to students and will define the term nonfiction.

Lesson

1) Class discussion: Develop a working definition of "nonfiction." A work of nonfiction is based on truth rather than make believe. Have students read any other nonfiction books? Why would a reader want to read nonfiction? Why would a person want to write nonfiction? Does it seem that this book is a nonfiction? Why or why not?

2) Small groups: Split the class into several small groups. Have each group learn what it can about the book from reviews, magazine articles, etc. Was the book on a best-sellers list? Is it classified as a religious book...
