Set Characters to Music

It can be any genre of music so long as the lyrics are clean enough for you to present it in class--and for your teacher to listen to.

Poetry

A Lay is a long narrative poem, especially one that was sung by medieval minstrels. "The Lay of the Last Minstrel" by Sir Walter Scott is an example of a lay.

A Ballad is a poem that tells a story similar to a folk tail or legend which often has a repeated refrain. The theme song from "Gilligan's Island" is an example of a ballad.

Try setting your lay or ballad to music. Illuminate the writing of the poems the way monks did.
