Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Characters

Sara Nomberg-Przytyk - This person was raised as a Hasidic Jew in Poland where she grew up in poverty and was imprisoned for political activities prior to imprisonment in Auschwitz.

Josef Mengele - This person was one of the head doctors of Auschwitz and was named the Angel of Death because of gruesome experiments conducted on prisoners.

The Zugangi - This was the term used for new arrivals in Auschwitz.

The Blokowa - This was the term used to describe prisoners who are leaders of the prisoner cell blocks.
