Objective

"Ask Me No Questions" is a novel by Marina Budhos which tells the story of a family of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and the trials they face in America after the tragedy of 9/11. When Abba is detained by the INS for violating his visa, Nadira and Aisha attempt to save their father as they struggled with the daily challenges of finding their place in a country they now realize is not their home. In this lesson, students are introduced to the book and will research and discuss the author, Marina Tamar Budhos.

1) Teacher Lecture: Introduce the students to the book and author. "Ask Me No Questions" is a fictional novel based around events which took place following the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Marina Tamar Budhos is an adult author who has crossed into the genre of young adult fiction as well.
