Objective

Objective: Philip K. Dick is one of the major American writers not only in science fiction, but literature as well. Do Androids Dream Electric Sheep? was one of his most famous works and was made into a film called Blade Runner. However, he has written many other works that are regarded with equal reverence such as Ubik. The aim of this lesson is introduce Philip K. Dick and to make the students aware of his importance within American literature.

1) Divide the class into groups of 3 or 4 and give them a few minutes to think of as many things that they know about Philip K. Dick.
Discuss what they already know and then give each group a topic to research. One group can research Dick's life in general, another group can research one of the other books he has written and another group can research his political ideas...
