The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the biographies of Raymond Carver and Tom Jenks and to discuss why these two men compiled this collection of stories.

1.) Class Activity: As a class, create a list of adjectives used by the editors to describe the stories in this collection. Based on this description, do you think the editors gave all authors a fair shot at publication? Why or why not?
