Lesson 1 (from Chapters 1-6)

Objective

Allegiant is the third and final novel of the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth. The series is set in a futuristic dystopian Chicago and revolves around protagonist Beatrice Prior, known as “Tris” once she becomes an initiate into the Dauntless faction. In this lesson, students will review the major themes and events from the novels Divergent and Insurgent, and will analyze and discuss the protagonist, Tris, and the setting established in Chapter 1 of Allegiant.

Lesson

Research Activity: Conduct research on the major plot points, characters, and themes from the previous two novels of the Divergent series, Divergent and Insurgent. What is the back-story of Tris, or Beatrice Prior, in the series? What events in Insurgent occurred just prior to the opening of Chapter 1 of Allegiant?
