Rashad

This character is one of the novel's two main protagonists. In November of his junior year, this character is violently arrested outside of Jerry's Corner Store after being accused of trying to steal a bag of chips. This character suffers several broken ribs, a broken nose, and internal bleeding as a result of the assault. This character ends up leading the protest march featured in the climactic scenes of the narrative.
