Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Characters

Mrs. Curren (the narrator) - This person is diagnosed with terminal cancer and found a homeless man inside her home.

Mr. Vercueil (the homeless man) - This person is an alcoholic, homeless man who has a dog as a constant companion.

Florence - This person works as a housekeeper and acts as a source of news because the media did not report on oppression.

Bheki - This person was a 15 year old who became involved in activism.

John - This person was a teenager who was attacked by police and was hospitalized.
