Objective: Chapters 1-3 At the opening of "About Face", Hackworth describes some of the activities of the U.S. military in Korea. The objective of this lesson is to discuss the events that transpired between North and South Korea, also known as the Korean War.

1) Independent Work: Library Research and Written Summary: When did the Korean War begin? Who supported the Republic of Korea? Who supported the Democratic People's Republic of Korea? What kind of aid did each side receive? What was the disagreement over? Why were they fighting over the division of Korea? When did the situation escalate into open warfare?
