A Simple Plan is a suspense novel by author Scott B. Smith published in 1993. Scott Bechtel Smith (born 1965) is an American author and screenwriter who also adapted the screenplay for A Simple Plan (1998), which was nominated for numerous awards, including two Academy Awards. In this lesson, students are introduced to the novel, its author, and film adaptation.
