Create a Soundtrack

Choose 3 songs from each of the decades the novel is set in (1940s, 1980s, and 2010s). Create a playlist and explain how each of the songs is important to each era.

Write a Letter

Imagine you are either Evelyn or Renard and write a letter from that persons point of view to your best friend describing Evelyn and Renard's first date on the porch.

Write a Poem

Imagine you are any character in the book. Write a poem about what you see when you look in the mirror.

Create a Map

Use street names, businesses, homes, schools, and other landmarks to create a map of Evelyn's ward. Include Saint Bernard Avenue, North Claiborne Avenue, and Esplanade Avenue.

Make Art

Paint, draw, or collage a representation of Renard as uneven man. Computer-generated imagery is allowed if it is unique.
