1. Describe Toby's first memories of life. How do these compare to your own?

The first impression Toby has is of the fuzzy bodies of his three siblings and the wonderful, long tongue of his mother. My first memories are from much later in life, when I was about three when my sister was born.

2. What does Toby's mother try to teach her puppies? Should she do this? Why or why not?

Mother tries to teach them to fear humans. She has every reason to fear humans, so teaching them to fear humans is a good idea. Although humans can be very kind to dogs, many treat dogs poorly. In Toby's case, he is treated well, yet still put to sleep because he cannot be adopted.

3. What are Toby's siblings names? How might they have come about these names?

His siblings' names are Fast, Sister, and Hungry. Fast most likely was named such because he moved quickly and liked to run around. Sister was given her name most likely because she was the only female puppy. Hungry was a very sick dog who was malnourished.
