Lesson 1 (from Part I (Pages 1 - 59))

Objective

The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze Jivan's use of social media in Part I, and to explore the effects of her social media posts on Facebook. After the terrorist attack on a train in Kolabagan, Jivan expresses frustration with the government. She goes so far as to write that because there were reports of police not intervening while the train burned, the government is a sort of terrorist itself. Soon afterwards, she is arrested and charged with sedition, murder, and crimes against the state.
