Lesson

1) Class Discussion: In the prologue, the unnamed narrator introduces the purpose of his story and the main characters. Discuss with students the objective of the narrator's story. Discuss why the narrator seems to think telling this story is so important to tell. Discuss as well the narrator's description of Missy Ryan and his assertion that the story is not about Missy at all.

2) Point of View: The author begins the novel in the first person point of view. Ask students to discuss in an essay or with a partner the first person point of view. Ask students to define this point of view and to discuss how...
