While on Earth, Dr Floyd stepped off a second story balcony. Because of this he receivd multiple fractures that led to complications forcing him to have to be taken to the Pasteur Space Hospital. Because of the gravity differences, his biological clock slowed down, as did the aging process.

Dr Floyd joined an expedition to go to Haley's Comet. He fantasizes about standing on the rim of its crater as the Sun rises. He envisions it often and while traveling there imagines he can see the light from the comet.
