Ohio should pass law curtailing smoking
U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona's landmark report on secondhand smoke states that it is a proven cause of lung cancer and heart disease in nonsmoking adults and of sudden infant death syndrome, low birth weight, acute respiratory infections, ear infections and asthma attacks in infants and children.
It also says there is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke and that separating smokers from nonsmokers, cleaning the air and ventilating buildings are not effective at eliminating exposure of nonsmokers.
