ASPEN -- For freeskiers, snowboarders and even freestyle motocross riders, the Winter X Games, which begin today in Aspen, are the biggest arena available.

``The X Games?'' asked JJ Thomas, an Olympic bronze medalist from Golden, ``It's the Olympics of this year.''

But that doesn't mean every athlete cares enough to train for the event or to even show up.

Jonny Moseley, an Olympic gold medalist in moguls skiing, has said that if the X Games existed when he was a kid, he would have focused on them and not the older, more established O-Games.
