Monarch Notes 01-01-1963 Life And Background Early Life: Henry Fielding was born in 1707 at Sharpham Park in Somersetshire, and spent his boyhood on a farm at East Stour in Dorsetshire. His father, Edmund Fielding, was an army officer who later rose to the rank of General; his mother, the daughter of Sir Henry Gould, died when Fielding was eleven.
