The listing in the Report on Carcinogens will increase awareness of wood dust as a cancer-causing agent.
For the first time, the National Toxicology Program listed wood dust in its 10th Annual Report on Carcinogens, the federal government's official list of cancer-causing substances. Not only was it listed, but it was also given the highest severity classification of "Known to be human carcinogen." However, before we start disposing of our pencils as toxic waste, it would be a good idea to read beyond the headlines.
