A 29-year-old Winthrop woman was stabbed and slashed to death at her apartment yesterday morning in a drug-related argument over 45 cents, Winthrop police said. Police responded to a phone call from a neighbor reporting a fight in the tiny two-room apartment on Washington Avenue. Sherri Lee Banks was pronounced dead at the scene, Lt. Michael McManus said. William LaPage, 42, of Belcher Street, Winthrop, was arrested at the apartment and charged with first-degree murder. McManus said Banks and LaPage were not in a romantic relationship.
