Wilfried Feldenkirchen's well-written book on Werner von Siemens (1816-92) is the first in a three-volume history of the Siemens corporation. This first volume deals primarily with Werner von Siemens as a businessman. Feldenkirchen gives an account of von Siemens' life set against the background of the creation of Germany as a nation state. Werner von Siemens is at the nucleus of the family.
