CHESAPEAKE -- CHESAPEAKE - Wanda Mae Pence of Emerald Isle, N.C., left this world to be with her Lord Jan. 11, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was formerly a resident of Virginia Beach. The youngest of seven children, Wanda was born in Madisonville, Texas, Feb. 28, 1923, to Ira W. and Melissa A. Bailey. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, retired Col. Edward W. Pence Sr. and a daughter, Linda L. Lutes.

Survivors include her daughter, Bettydeen Brown and her husband Grady W. Brown of Emerald Isle; her son, Edward W. Pence Jr. and his wife Jane L. Pence of Chesape...
