The Gate Theatre in Dublin celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the world premiere of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot, which opened at the Theatre de Babylone in Paris on 5 January 1953, with a month-long January run beginning with a gala party and performance on 5 January 2003. Directing was Walter Asmus, friend of Beckett and internationally famous director of all of Beckett's plays.
