In the Dec. 19 Dr. Gridlock column, reader Alfred Regnery of Alexandria said this: "The Washington & Old Dominion (W & OD) trail is a nice bike path, but it is a luxury we can no longer afford. Local officials should seriously consider buying the path and turning it into a rail line again."
